2009 truly was a year full of milestones – we received our first Boston Globe review from our production of Robert Ward’s The Crucible, produced several highly successful outreach events within the greater Boston area, and garnered greater publicity around our company and productions. To quote J. Jacob Krause from the Boston Musical Intelligencer, “Boston Opera Collaborative is pushing the limits of itself to reach greater heights and I applaud them for it!”

When our President Renée Hites and I met to discuss our fundraising goals this past year we knew we would be reaching for truly greater heights by setting our goal high. In order to further establish BOC into the operatic community in Boston we needed to develop new and creative ways to reach out to loyal donors and new audiences alike. Given the state of the economy we knew we would push the envelope to strive for such a high goal. We figured we could alter our goals to fit these troubled times or forge ahead with our most ambitious goal to date, knowing that it is impossible to achieve these new heights without setting the bar high.

I am extremely thrilled to announce to you today that we have triumphed!! Thanks to your generous support, and the support of more than 300 others who believe in the mission of the Boston Opera Collaborative, we finished our year having secured over $16,850 in cash donations, overwhelming our target goal of $12,000. This is an outstanding achievement, and I am very proud to have worked with you in bringing this goal to fruition.

I am grateful to each and every one of you for being an enthusiastic contributor to our organization. We are humbled and honored that BOC is among your giving priorities, and we look forward to updating you on the progress of our mission, performances, and — most importantly — our artists in 2010!

Musically yours,

Emily Burr
Former Fundraising Chair

Mission Statement

Boston Opera Collaborative is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to providing opportunities for emerging artists — including singers, directors, conductors, and theater technicians — to bridge the gap between higher education and a career in the arts.

Members of Boston Opera Collaborative share in the management of the organization, developing their own skills as artists and administrators through productions and professional development.
