All in a day's madness: parents reunited with an abducted son, a lecherous count foiled by a clever servant, a double marriage, all blessed by a young wife's forgiveness. Based on a French farce that was widely condemned for its portrayal of inter-class conflict, Mozart's opera bristles with backstabbing, lovesickness, trickery, and some of opera's most memorable music.
