Boston Opera Collaborative Announces Inaugural Production, Iphigénie en Aulide by C.W. Gluck
Libretto by Marie François Leblanc du Roullet, after Racine and Euripides
Performed in French with Projected English Translation
Boston, MA—Boston Opera Collaborative, a new initiative formed to create and encourage performance opportunities for emerging artists throughout New England, proudly announces its inaugural production, C.W. Gluck's Iphigénie en Aulide. Based on a Greek tragedy by Euripides, this rarely-performed opera contains a sinuous musical texture that explores a ruler's struggle to choose between his kingdom and his family.
The performers and the behind-the-scenes artists are among the finest young talents in the area. Stage Director Andrew Ryker has worked with various companies and schools including Millikin Opera Guild, New England Conservatory Light Opera, and Intermezzo: The New England Chamber Opera Series. He received his M.M. from New England Conservatory and is the recipient of the Goldovsky Directing Internship at the Harrower Opera Workshop in Atlanta. Musical Director Markus Hauck has worked with many local theaters as a conductor, vocal coach, and pianist. He completed his M.M. in Choral Conducting from The Boston Conservatory, is the choir director at Theodore Parker Church, and has released two solo piano recordings.
