Soprano Natalie Polito, hailed as “one of the finest young sopranos in Greater Boston” by The Patriot Ledger, is currently in high demand. Ms. Polito recently received high praise from The Duxbury Clipper for her “agile and confident singing” in her charming portrayal of Adele (Die Fledermaus) with Opera By the Bay. This summer, Ms. Polito will join the Studio Artist program of Opera New Jersey, where she will cover Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail and appear as Marguerite in scenes from Gounod’s Faust. In September of 2009, Ms. Polito will appear as Nancy Shedman in the world premiere of Holy Ghosts by Larry Bell, at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston.
Ms. Polito’s recent engagements include Madame Goldentrill (The Impresario) with Metro West Opera, Fanny (La Cambiale di Matrimonio) for Boston Opera Collaborative’s 2009 Gala, and the reprise of her role as the Queen of the Night in Opera del West’s original children’s opera. In her highly acclaimed 2007 performances as Violetta (La Traviata) with Opera By the Bay, Ms. Polito was described by The Duxbury Clipper as “astonishing…beautiful in every way, the perfect Violetta.” Ms. Polito’s other past operatic highlights include Rosalinda (Die Fledermaus) with Opera del West, the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte) with both the Intermezzo Young Artist Program and Worcester Opera Works, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) with Boston Opera Collaborative, Elettra (Idomeneo) with Opera Hub and the Sebastian Chamber Players, the title role in Boston Opera Collaborative’s Iphigénie en Aulide, and Adele (Die Fledermaus) at The Boston Conservatory. Partial roles performed by Ms. Polito include Morgana (Alcina), Norma (Norma), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Baby Doe (The Ballad of Baby Doe), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Elvira (I Puritani), Cunegonde (Candide), and Ännchen (Der Freischütz).
A frequent performer of new works, Ms. Polito recently sang the world premiere of Rick Kress’s Six Months Out at the Berklee Performance Center. She has also been a frequent guest soloist with the prestigious Boston Gay Men’s Chorus, most recently in New England Conservatory’s historic Jordan Hall, as the soprano soloist in David Conte’s Hymn to the Nativity, and in 2007 as the soprano soloist in the Boston premiere of Kris Anthony’s When We No Longer Touch. Ms. Polito has also been seen in concert with Opera Providence, Longwood Opera, Mass Theatrica, New England Light Opera, and at the Duxbury Music Festival, where she won Third Place in the 2008 Solo Competition for her stunning performance of the Queen of the Night’s Vengeance Aria. Ms. Polito was also a 2009 Finalist in the Peter Elvins Vocal Competition.
A native of the Chicago area, Ms. Polito currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts. She holds an M.M. in Vocal Performance from The Boston Conservatory and a B.M. in Vocal Performance with Honors from Northwestern University.
