Soprano Meredeth Kelly is currently a graduate student in the College of Fine Arts at Boston University and is an alumnus of the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. During her tenure at Boston University, Meredeth has performed the roles of Madame Lisette Raquin in Tobias Picker’s Thèrése Raquin, Annunciata in the world premier staging of William Bolcom’s comedy Lucrezia and in the spring of 2010, will sing the role of Despina in Mozart’s Cosí fan tutte and Mrs. Gleaton in Floyd’s Susannah. While at SMU, Meredeth performed the roles of Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, Miss Pinkerton in Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief, and Susanna in the world premier of Simon Sargon’s children’s opera, The Singing Violin. In the summer of 2007, Meredeth was invited to perform as a studio artist for the Amalfi Coast Music and Arts Festival where she sang the role of Papagena in Die Zauberflöte in Caserta, Italy. This past summer, she portrayed the role of Die Mutter in Opera del West’s production of Hänsel und Gretel. Recently, Meredeth was seen in concert with Metropolitan Opera baritone Wolfgang Brendel in a joint recital benefiting The Brookline High School Scholarship Fund and was the soprano soloist with The Boston University Symphonic Chorus in Tarik O’Reagan’s chamber work, Triptych. An advocate of new music and art song, Meredeth has helped premiere several works including composer Timothy Roy’s Mass, MissaSMU, written in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Catholic diocese at Southern Methodist University, and recently gave a recital of French art song in conjunction with The Dallas Museum of Art’s exhibit Van Gogh: Sheaves of Wheat. She currently holds the position of Soprano Soloist/Section Leader at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Weston, MA. She is a student of Penelope Bitzas.
