Katrina Holden blends a silvery lyric voice with a love of words that permeates her performances. This summer she sang Frasquita in BOC's highly acclaimed production of Carmen. She looks forward to performing the role of Countess Charlotte in Sondheim's A Little Night Music with BOC in February.
Other opera roles include Mlle. Silverpeal(cover) in The Impresario with MetroWest Opera, Prima Converse with BOC in their production of Suor Angelica, Musetta in La Boheme, (La Musica Lirica, Novafeltria, Italy), Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, (Muhlenberg Theater Association), and Betty Doxy in Beggars’ Opera, Muhlenberg. Musical theater roles include Golde in Fiddler on the Roof, Bonnie in Anything Goes and Polly in The Boyfriend. She has sung Erste Dame in a concert version of Die Zauberflöte at the “American Institute of Musical Studies” in Graz, Austria under the baton of Edoardo Muller. Katrina has a special love for German lieder and has performed in master classes with Norman Shetler, Damien Francoeur and Pierre Vallet. Ms Holden has also collaborated on performances of early music with "The Wincoma Consort" in Pennsylvania and New York. Following her interest and graduate study in the compositions of John Dowland, she performed recitals of his consort songs with the early music group "Night's Blackbird" in Indiana this fall.
Ms Holden graduated with her Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from The New England Conservatory in Boston where she studied with James McDonald. Born in Woodbridge CT, Katrina received her Bachelor of Arts in Music and English from Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania. She currently studies with Elisabeth Phinney.
