Matthew Stansfield
Matthew is a recent addition to BOC through his participation in Dialogues of the Carmelites. He is a student of William Cotten’s at the Boston Conservatory where he is earning his M.M. in Vocal Performance. Before moving to Boston last year Matthew earned his B.A. in Applied Music from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI. This summer was a typical summer full of few musical gigs for Matthew, but he managed to balance Dialogues, with Richard Crittenden’s Boston Opera Workshop while painting, gardening, and working for the Boston Conservatory’s Wellness Office.
Matthew presently is a member of Big Smile Productions and is singing renaissance music at King Richard’s Faire, in Carver, MA. This November he can be seen in full action with The Boston Conservatory’s Children’s Opera Jack and the Beanstalk. Matthew is currently planning his Masters recital and hopes he will have it on stage by the end of February.
Matthew is employed at Payson Park Congregational in Belmont, MI, where he is the Full Time Bass Section Leader and is also the evening soloist at St. Clements Eucharistic Shrine, Fenway, MA. Matthew is unsure if he will be teaching at the Boston Arts Academy this year, but he is very optimistic and always surprised by the number of jobs that are available in Boston. He is planning on Christmas Caroling with Figgy Puddin’ Inc. again this year and with Big Smile Productions. “I think this is going to be a very productive year and I hope many new doors continue to open for me.” He continued to say that he is very excited to be a new member of BOC and is very ambitious to see what the new school year might bring for him.
