Leah Krznarich, soprano

Leah Krznarich, soprano, is a native of Hancock, MI. She has appeared as a soloist throughout Michigan, South Carolina, and Massachusetts. Notable solo performances include Handel's Dixit Dominus with the Kalamazoo BachFest, and the South Carolina premiere of Morton Feldman's Rothko Chapel. In June 2004, she sang the role of Eleanor von Sonnig in the American premiere of Einojuhanni Rautavaara's House of the Sun. Locally, Ms. Krznarich performed the role of Aurelia Havisham in Dominick Argento's monodrama Miss Havisham's Wedding Night at the New England Conservatory, and sang in Boston Opera Collaborative's inaugural production of Iphigenie en Aulide; she also serves as chair of the BOC Finance Committee. In March of 2007, she appeared in Lowell House Opera's production of Der Rosenkavalier as Marianne, the duenna.

While at the New England Conservatory, she studied with Mark St. Laurent, receiving a graduate diploma in Vocal Performance in May 2006. Ms. Krznarich also holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of South Carolina, where she studied voice and Alexander Technique with Laury Christie. An experienced teacher, Ms. Krznarich has taught at the New England Conservatory, the University of South Carolina, the Carolina Music Academy, and currently teaches at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts. This fall, she will join the faculty at New England Conservatory as a teaching fellow. Ms. Krznarich is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, Golden Key International Honour Society, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS.)
