A native of North Hampton New Hampshire, mezzo-soprano Amanda Robie began her musical journey as a small child. After begging her parents for over a year, she began taking violin lessons at the age of 8. Shortly after beginning her violin study, she joined her school choir and thus began her vocal career! Ms. Robie graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with a concentration in Voice Performance and Choral Pedagogy. Upon graduating, Ms. Robie moved to Washington, DC, where she was an associate professional of the Master Chorale of Washington, an alto section leader for local churches as well as a featured soloist for many engagements in the surrounding area. Ms. Robie completed her Master of Music in Voice Performance at the Boston Conservatory and continues to study with Monique Phinney. She has performed with Boston Opera Collaborative as Mother Jeanne in {Dialogues of the Carmelites}, Berta in {Countess of Seville}, Bradamante in {Alcina} and Elizabeth Proctor in {The Crucible}. The past two summers she has been a Young Artist at the Seagle Music Colony where she performed the roles of The Witch in {Hansel and Gretel}, Third Lady in {The Magic Flute} and Tisbe in {La Cenerentola}. In 2009, she won 2nd place in Division 5 of the NATS Boston Song & Aria Competition. On the concert stage, she has appeared as the alto soloist with Susquehanna Valley Chorale for their performances of J.S. Bach's {Magnificat in D}, Vivaldi's {Gloria} and most recently Handel's {Messiah} this past December. Upcoming engagements: Ms. Robie will be performing the role of Frau A in {3x3=∞} in May of this year with Juventas Opera Project 2010.
